Interior designer Starrett Ringbom knows a thing or two about glamorously modern accessories. Just look at these pieces from her own collection, which she styled for us alongside Schumacher’s new Ottoman Chic Collection of fabrics, wallcoverings and trims. So we asked her for a list of her favorite places to shop for bits and bobs for the home. Here’s her Insider Short List for The Edit.
Svenskt Tenn
Svenskt Tenn is my design Mecca. It is the most fabulous home store in Stockholm, ground zero for all things Josef Frank (besides Schumacher!) as well as great pieces from other Scandinavian designers. I love to shop for tabletop and home accessories items when I am there.
Flessas Design
Flessas Design has sadly closed shop on Madison Avenue, but it is still my go-to for lighting. They always carry my favorite vintage pieces like Kalmar sconces, such as these that I just purchased for a client.
KRB
KRB is a one-stop shop for Upper East Side chic. Unique antiques, furniture, art and objets all with a certain polish that puts a bow on a room. I am currently enthralled by the Mark Gagnon pieces.
1st Dibs
Because you can literally find anything you are looking for. There is nothing better than being able to source the entire globe for antiques! Fornasetti cameo table? I RSVP yes!
eBay
eBay is a great, humble resource. I especially like to shop for vintage ceramics and tabletop. If you are persistent and clear about what you are looking for, you will be rewarded. I have found lots of great Quimper and Italian Faience pieces.
John Derian
The mini empire of John Derian is a treasure trove. His own namesake decoupage work is beautiful, as are his carefully selected textiles, tabletop and furnishings. It is also my favorite place for Christmas ornaments. Love the switch plate covers!
Black Cat Books
A house is not a home without books. Black Cat is a phenomenal vintage and used book store on Shelter Island. It specializes in incredible hard to find and out of print art books.
Leta Austin Foster
Leta Austin Foster is the stuff of legend in Palm Beach, famous for her interior design business and her boutique. It is truly my favorite store in town and a slice of heaven. She carries your favorite linens and towels from D. Porthault, pottery from Verriere de Biot, bespoke stationary and even the best children’s clothing I have found in the United States. She has it all!
The End of History
Great spot for mid-century glassware in beautiful colors, pottery, objets and lighting.
William-Wayne & Co.
William-Wayne is jam-packed full of classic staples—sliver bamboo picture frames, hand-blocked table cloths, cache pots, books—you name it. A traditional home is not complete without a little something from this forever shop.
