When designer Cece Barfield Thompson and her husband first purchased their Gramercy Park apartment, it was in less-than-livable condition—lacking even a fully functioning bathroom. But after spending years restoring its classical style, Barfield Thompson succeeded in creating the perfect perch for her young family and dog, Oliver. For color inspiration, she needed only to look out of her window, using the park’s greenery to inform verdant hues throughout her home. The finished result feels like a sophisticated treehouse, with worldly antiques and fine art adorning every corner.
“I think it’s so important that rooms feel connected to the view beyond them, especially when it’s a room with big windows… You feel the connection to outside—to the park—it feels like a treehouse.”
