A lighting designer and an interior decorator walk into a pottery class: So begins the story of how Charlie and Kevin Dumais became the founders of Dumais Made, a Connecticut ceramics studio that produces handmade lamps and accessories with sculptural shapes and nuanced glaze applications. Each one a singular work of art, the couple’s designs marry muted color with striking scale for a collection that’s subtly statement-making.

The Brut Lamp (left, $3,400) mimics the shape of the Marcel Breuer–designed Pirelli Tire Building in nearby New Haven, Connecticut. The Hutton Lamp (center, $2,100) was designed for the pair’s first Field + Supply exhibition, which took place at the Hutton Brickyards in Kingston, New York. The Newport Pendant (right, $3,000) was originally commissioned by a shop in Newport Beach, California; it was recolored in matte black and walnut for the permanent line. Available at dumaismade.com.
